Product Overview

Vacuum Desoldering Station ZD985

This temperature controlled desoldering station makes desoldering of through-hole parts a breeze. Simply place the heated tip of the gun over the pin to be de-soldered, wait for the solder to melt, then press the trigger. This will activate the vacuum pump in the station to suck the melted solder through the hollow tip into a waste reservoir and leave the component's leg and PCB free of solder. It only takes a few seconds per pin.

If you've ever tried to de-solder parts using wick or a manual vacuum pump, you know how difficult that is, particularly on a double-sided board. You will NOT have these problems using our desoldering station, because it sucks the solder from both sides of the board, leaving the hole and component leg virtually free of solder.

The station has a dual LCD display, showing the desired temperature and the actual temperature. The display can be switched from Fahrenheit to Celsius if, and the desired temperature can be dialed-in using the up/down buttons. An illuminated power on/off switch is also located on the front.

The side of the station features a typical holder, with sponge.

Two lines (power and vacuum, both can be disconnected) connect the station to the gun. There is a filter at the station-side of the vacuum connector, and another filter in the gun itself.

The package comes with the following items:

1.) Temperature Controlled Station, with AC Power Cord (ZD-985)
2.) Vacuum Desoldering Gun (80-552B)
3.) Three tips with different sized holes (0.8mm = N5-2, 1mm = N5-1, 1.3mm = N5-3)
4.) Three cleaning rods (these are used to clean the hole in the tips when necessary)
5.) Spare Filters
6.) AC Cord

    VACUUM DESOLDERING REWORK STATION

Posted by Maui Popss on 1st May 2020

This is an excellent solution to the need for electronic desoldering on circuit boards and other necessary parts. You can set the temperature to whatever the job dictates. The station has enough heat and power to accomplish very large jobs and can also be set to take care of small circuits with no fear of lifting traces. There are replacement filters available and I recommend keeping a supply on hand. Keep a supply of extra nozzles in different sizes for different jobs (one size will not fit all jobs correctly). I have been using this model for about 3 years without a single problem. There have been weeks where it has been in use 8 hours a day for 5 days in a row. It is easy to clean (once you get used to the procedure). I keep an extra desoldering handle in stock so that I can just switch it out when I need to change nozzle size or do a cleaning(that way one can be cooling down while the other one is in use) The handle holder will need a small mod when you first get it to make it stronger but that is very easy. I have been pleased with the VACUUM DESOLDERING REWORK STATION DIGITAL TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED DUAL LCD ZD-985. For the price it is an excellent work tool to add to your work station. Aloha

    Awesome

I have been using this station for 4 years now, and it is great. Much less expensive than other options and I cannot complain about the job it does. Sucks up almost all of the solder and parts are easy and cheap to replace.

    ZD985 Desoldering Station

For the money, you can not beat this desoldering station. It work well on single sided, dual sided and multilayer PC boards. It leaves most devices solder free and can be removed by hand if they don't fall off first. The gun is easy to clean and consumable parts are inexpensive and readily available. I would rate it as equal to any of the better known units at 2-3 times the price.
